energy-management

The Donna Independent School District was rewarded for its energy-saving measures during its regular board meeting Oct. 11. Superintendent Fernando Castillo and the Board of Trustees accepted a $93,559.50 check from AEP Texas after participating in the company’s SCORE Program.

AEP’s SCORE Program provides energy performance benchmarking, technical assistance and cash incentives to help schools save energy and money. The school district upgraded four cooling systems and indoor and outdoor lighting at 14 schools. The new energy-efficient improvements will reduce future electricity costs and are expected to save the district thousands of kilowatt hours of energy annually. The savings will allow the district to invest more resources into the education of its students.
